Epilepsy and Time

4th Latin American Summer School on Epilepsy - LASSE IV

São Paulo - Brazil

The IV Latin American Summer School of Epilepsy (LASSE IV) will be dedicated to the understanding of the processes linked to epilepsy in a sequential and ordered manner, according to their temporal evolution. The program will place special emphasis on molecular and systemic changes in their temporal context, in order to allow the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the establishment and evolution of epileptic syndromes. Because temporal events manifest themselves continuously or episodically, the relationship of these processes with those more directly linked to the expression of epileptic seizures or to the characteristics of epilepsy throughout life will be emphasized. Thus, classes will focus on phenomena related to the development, maturation and aging of the central nervous system and the rhythms that govern life and their influence on ictal and epileptogenic mechanisms, such as the sleep-wake cycle and other circadian or seasonal regulation processes.
